John Burns named as Estate Planning Law Specialist.

John Burns is newly certified as an Estate Planning Law Specialist (EPLS) by the Estate Law Specialist Board, Inc., an organization accredited by the American Bar Association and affiliated with the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils.  John Burns Estate and Elder Care Law is located at 601 Johnston St SE, Decatur, Al 35601.

John is licensed to practice in Alabama, Tennessee, and Mississippi, John is Board Certified as an Elder Law Attorney (CELA) by the National Elder Law Foundation and Board Certified as an Estate Planning Law Specialist (EPLS) by the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils in addition to being recognized by that organization as an Accredited Estate Planner (AEP).  He also has earned a Martindale Hubbell® AV Preeminent® rating, has been recognized by Best Lawyers in America in the area of Tax Law, and is a Veterans Administration Accredited Attorney.

To become Board Certified as an Estate Planning Law Specialist (EPLS), an attorney must have devoted at least forty percent of his or her practice to estate planning for a minimum of five years.  In addition to passing a comprehensive examination in estate planning law, the attorney must also receive recommendations from five colleagues and must establish that he or she has at least 36 continuing education credits within the last three years.

The Estate Law Specialist Board, Inc., an attorney-run affiliate of the National Association of Estate Planners & Councils in Cleveland, Ohio, is the only ABA-accredited program for certification of an attorney as an Estate Planning Law Specialist.
